Hanging with Portraits

Today at the Zimmerli art museum I was exposed to many artists and many styles of artwork dated back to the 1700s and from the USSR period. You can really travel back in time with these pieces and that’s whats so magical about them. In the black and white photo of men, the text at the bottom translates to “Cast Me Away of Your Presence” the men wanted to be remembered for their fight under communism and this museum is fulfilling their wish. “A picture is worth a thousands words” each piece has their own story and it can be interpreted in so many ways. Artists are inspired by society but they also design and shape society in their own eyes even if its not the same way others perceive it, but that is the beauty of it. Looking at different points of views can add to your own ideas and move it forward in a new direction. Selfies are a form of our own self expression and we are contributing to the art by sharing our story and documenting the society we are growing in. I think it would be really cool to visit a museum dedicated to selfies. #RUSelfieProject
